Essex Patio & Borders
​Phase one of this project was to install the patio and the borders immediately surrounding the patio originally we planned to lower the grade at the highest point of the lawn, to reduce the slope that radiated from that point. but we found the septic tank barely below grass level, so working with that restriction; we decided to increase the slope of the borders immediately surrounding the patio.
The second phase consisted of creating borders around the fence, with a small island border.
incorporating copious amounts of well rotted horse manure, before planting the mainly shrub border, which will grow into a privacy screen.
The gardens are maturing remarkably well.
At this sttage we also installed the arbor onto which we are growing
Climbing roses, and clematis.
